Anti-Racism Statement
At Faith City Church we unequivocally stand against racism. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a message of hope and inclusion for all people everywhere. We are committed to being anti-racist and following the example of Christ in loving and serving all.
We understand racism shows itself in many forms and we stand against it in all forms.
Racism, which is seen as any conduct or comment which causes humiliation to an employee, volunteer, or any member of our community because of their racial or ethnic background, colour, place of birth, citizenship, or ancestry; will not be tolerated.
Examples of conduct that may be racial or ethnic harassment include (but are not limited to):
- Unwelcome remarks, jokes, or innuendos about a person’s racial or ethnic origin, colour, place of birth, citizenship, or ancestry.
- Displaying racist or derogatory pictures or other offensive material.
- Insulting gestures or practical jokes based on racial or ethnic grounds which create awkwardness or embarrassment.
- Refusing to speak to or work with someone or treating someone differently because of their ethnic or racial background.
Faith City Church is intent on being engaged in the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:16-21). This involves listening and being solution-oriented when addressing racism in our church, our city, and beyond. Together, by God’s grace, we can build a stronger, healthier society for future generations regardless of race or ethnic origin.
